"Delve into the Abyss" is a roguelike game developed over the course of nine months with a team of seven people. I was tasked with handling the game's narrative, though it wasn't until late in the development process that I was allowed to properly ideate the narrative.

The narrative was constructed after the team pooled together a series of pitches that I was tasked with pooling together into a cohesive plotline. This includes lore, worldbuilding, and other vital storytelling elements. My main goal during the combination of these elements was to create an interesting yet disturbing world and lore. Much of the game is focused on learning about the troubles of the mining colony on the planet, alongside gaining information about the previous cult-like civilization that resided on the planet centuries before.

The main theme I wanted to exemplify throughout the narrative is greed. Albeit I was only given enough time to explore this theme on a more surface level than I would have preferred. Greed is a highly destructive force, and I wanted to showcase in a way how greed can form a lengthy chain of manipulation and problems. This is showcased in various narrative elements regarding the audio logs and mysterious tablets found throughout the game.
